Leave Skopje on Monday morning and travel south to Lake Ohrid. A guided walk introduces the ancient theatre, stone lanes, lakeside boardwalk and St John at Kaneo before an evening that is yours to enjoy.
Stay overnight in Ohrid after the day-trip crowds have gone. Choose your own dinner, catch the sunset or stroll beside the harbour. Accommodation is in a twin or double room according to your booking; the property is confirmed on your voucher.
On Tuesday, enjoy the lake in the morning before heading into the mountains to Kruševo. At more than 1,300 m, its steep streets and old wooden houses tell a different Macedonian story. Learn about the 1903 Ilinden uprising and the ten-day republic, and see the distinctive Makedonium monument, completed in 1974.
Return to Skopje on Tuesday evening. Optional extras include a Kaneo boat and swimming experience (€42), lake brunch (€48), or tandem paragliding (€125), subject to season and weather.
Depart Monday at 09:00 and reach Ohrid around midday after the drive south.
Walk with your guide through historic lanes, past the ancient theatre and along the lake to St John at Kaneo.
